What is the Take Action Project?

In their third and final year of the Global Scholars Diploma program students are tasked with a Capstone project that tackles a global issue in their community. Student's utilize the skills and knowledge gained in their first and second year of the program to complete their Take Action Project.

What are some examples of projects and their local impact?

Students focus on a singular Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) for their final project. For example, a student who is focusing on increasing recycling efforts in his school and/or community would be targeting  Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production. Students will then partner with local organization to tackle this issue in their communities, focusing on creating sustainable and lasting change rather than a bandaid fix.

"It has been a wonderful three years, I have met so many awesome people and learned more than I thought I would. I hold a diploma I am proud of and I’m happy I stuck with it through COVID and made my first mark on the world. I hope to make many more.”

Tyler

“ I loved GSD program. Not only did it give me a good global education and information, but also the resources to help make a difference in my community!”

Abigail

“This program has been so instrumental to my personal growth these past 3 years. I’ve been so motivated to consider global perspectives, sought discomfort as I explored unfamiliar areas and ideas, and found an incredible community of passionate and ambitious change-makers. I know my own TAP has opened so many doors for me to explore public health on a deeper level and I feel empowered to know that I can take steps towards being the change I have always wanted to see.”

Avani

" I am very glad I got to have this opportunity to work with so many different people and be apart of the community in a new way. I learned so much and am so grateful I got to make an impact in even the smallest way."
